Run and scream!!!
Why?
I don't know, why do you ask me? Who do you think I am? Carl Sagan ?

Why do I get the feeling that it's going to be the GT86?

"Classic shapes our future vision"
What are you hinting at Toyota, did mine and so many other e-mails get through to you.

Yeah, where is the MK3? It's lacking MK3! That is my favorite generation!

Pros: Yay, new supra incoming!
Cons:...For six figure unicorn money, probably. :[

No, it will be larger than that. If they want it to really be a Supra in the vein of how that nameplate last concluded, it will need to be larger, with a 6 cylinder. The GT-86 is all about small, low, direct. This would be more of a hammer with creature comforts.

There's no Mk2 either.

I knew it would have to have more oomph than the 86, but I still feel like they're going to use it as a stepping stone towards whatever end they have in mind.
Just a theory, I have no idea what's going on in Toyodaland.

I think their aim is GT86 -> Supra -> Lexus F-sport line
They need to hook 'em young, and keep them in the family as the age and price point rises

That actually makes perfectly good sense. I hope they go with that, even if I'll probably never purchase anything in that line.

Looks like a Mk2 to me, Do you mean Mk1?
![]() 12/17/2013 at 11:51 |

Oh yes indeed, I was having a short moment.

Have a MK1, I helped my friend Jeff get it for free just needing a clutch job.
The photo is me lining it up on the drag strip against a Roadrunner. 18.027 @ 77mph with a not-great launch and off-brand tires. I don't feel so bad.

Did this Nibbles character get me or you? By the way, who is this Nibbles character?

Great... [rolleyes]
They skipped my favorite... the Mark III.

Agreed.
If they target Nissan GT-R... then Supra isn't going to matter a whit to me, it will be completely unaffordable.
Frankly, it should be sportier than the Lexus IS-ish coupe, and competitive with 2015 Mustang, and set a higher bar for Genesis Coupe and Nissan Z/Infiniti coupe to hit.
Another Nissan GT-R that tries to compete with Porsche doesn't interest me. the Porsche will be classic when it depreciates. Nissan GT-R will be an aging technical time-bomb... Supra would likely end up that way, too, when it is 10 years used.

That is my favorite as well! Thank for pointing this out! Toyota, you're, once again, doing it wrong!!

It's my friend Jeff's Celica Supra. it is hence known as the Free Supra. He let me borrow it to do the 1600 mile trip to the drag strip.

Wow! A 1600 mile trip. That would be an absolute blast to do.

it started leaking brake fluid on the way down, and the cruise control was intermittent, but i drove down with me in the Free Supra and a friend in a twin turbo legacy postal wagon.
